Speed Chess is ostensibly chess, same rules, played on a 6 x 5 board, with five pawns, and one each of the king, queen, bishop, knight, and rook. The game is promoted as a learning tool for children and adults, and as a chess variant. The 6 x 5 board is ideal for Iphone usage and games go much more quickly.
Speedchess supports both 1 player and 2 player gameplay, so you can play against friends or test your skills against the challenging computer opponent.
